Oh gods.... this.... is.... DONE!!
This thing almost killed me. I feel like I say that on every single piece I finish, but for this one.... I really mean it. I started this at the beginning of October, hoping to only spend two weeks on it or so, but ended up spending most of my month on it.
But enough of that.... HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Here's my final Halloween Town/White Hearts picture! Here we have Princess Yugana Fah Whiteling dressed as an Elegant Goth Lolita with her living keyblade, Petal who's also dressed up for the holiday! (and yes, her Halloween Town design is inspired by Oblivion). And with them is the King of Halloween himself, Jack Skellington weidling some kind of fire/pumpkin magic! Yay!
They're standing in the Town Square in front of the iconic Halloween Town fountain. The square itself is kind of my own interpretation of it, since it's not really accurate as far as the placement of the buildings.
Now onto the technical. First of all, let me get the influences out of the way. Yes, Jack's pose is an official pose that I borrowed because I thought it was awesome. And yes, Petaline's design is based off of Oblivion. And YES, Yugana's dress is heavily influenced by Suigintou's dress. I think the three of them look spiffy together!
NOW.... I'm not joking when I say I spent three weeks painting the background ALONE. I painted it by going and playing the Halloween Town level of Kingdom Hearts and taking tons of reference screenshots and looking up all kinds of photoshoots with the original set online. Somehow from all that I managed to piece together a suitable looking background. It was the painting that really killed me. I said I used over 100 textures on my last Halloween picture, but I'm sure there are at least 200 here. I lost track of how much time I really pumped into it, but 50 hours at least. I think... I THINK I'm happy with it. But I've been starring at it all month and it's just turning into a big blur now. So I decided that I was at last.... done. (Oh and I have *nuinavariel and *disneypunk10 sitting with me keeping me from noodling it any more than I've already noodled it.... lol!)
I'm really happy with myself for PAINTING this thing though. I got to pay homage to my favourite movie, my favourite of my characters, and my favourite holiday all in one piece while pushing myself artistically at the same time. So even if I come back and look at this piece in a month and hate how it looks, I'm glad I did it!
That's about it! I'm off to FreakFest on State St (google it....) to watch drunk people in costume stumble around and eat delicious mac and cheese...
