- The Hush Sound, That's Okay
A continuation of "Watch Me Burn"</sup>. I knew I wanted to do a continuation of the piece as soon as I doodled the gestures in my Japanese textbook. It WAS going to be *direndria's Zak, but since he dun broke up with her (and has been avoiding her in general), that plan fell through. Then I heard "That's Okay" by The Hush Sound (and yes, the Homestuck fancomic thingy over on tumblr introduced me to it) and I was like "... holy shit, MERINID!!" I stayed up until the wee hours one night when I couldn't sleep from the anxiety I was having about finals and drew my continuation.
For those of you just joining us, the drow sorceress on the left is my 3.5 DnD character, Lae'estril. The wizard on the right is her childhood friend and fellow bearer of goodness, Merinid. They went to Sorcere (the drow magic school) together and relied on each other for silent support in all the darkness of the brutal society of their people. But Mer died in an unfortunate set of circumstances that Lae'estril feels crushing guilt for, even though she really wasn't to blame. He was a victim of circumstance, but Lae'estril has yet to see it like that and she blames herself for it. Actually, her emotional trauma began with Merinid's death. I guess in some ways it's more fitting that Mer be there anyway. Like he's saying to her, "You shielded me from the dark, now I'll brave your darkness with you, my friend." But yeah, his robes are his after death/Arvandor robes which is why he and they are all white and glowy~ yup!
Uhh... not much else to say I don't think. Merinid has become kind of a calming muse for me since I've been struggling with some weird bouts of anxiety lately. I think about him when I need to calm down and it seems to work. He just has that kind of effect on people, I guess.
I kinda wish I could have gotten the celtic crescent moon on his robes to show up a little better, but I couldn't quite get it to be completely visible below his belt without ruining the shape, and.... yeah.
